Wa-a-a-y back in my early teens, I felt as if the very first personal calculators were invented just for me. I am left brain challenged. I don’t think much of math. And, while I love computers, trying to write even the most rudimentary code makes me feel like I want to crawl out of my skin. That’s why I took such a liking to the Macintosh computer more than two decades ago. I have since lost track of the number of Macs I have owned since that first machine.
These devices have become an integral part of my life. I have a slew of Macs at work. Almost every member of my family owned at least one, in large part due to my evangelical zeal for Apple’s products. Oh, and there are all of the iPods (working or not) scattered around my home and office. I work, I communicate, I inform myself, I entertain myself, in other words, these well-designed machines are a big part of my life.
In addition to spending a heck of a lot of time on my MacBook Pro (ya, the BIG one – 17 full inches of bliss – apparently size does matter), I find a host of others pursuits to keep me occupied. Let’s see… I am a financial talk show host (for 20+ years – damn, I’m getting old), teach investing, dabble in voice work, deal antique maps, custom bulletin boards, and mirrors. Full of ideas, I have one real invention to my name; a wall map that accepts map pins without leaving big, ugly holes. Quite a few websites have been created by me, along with several wonderful children (okay, I had some help making those). In my “spare” time I love to read history, do a bit of acting now and then (my obnoxious brother is a big Broadway “star” – the other uses “PC s” thus cannot be mentioned) and spend time just “spending time” with my incredible wife, Debie… and the kids… and the dogs!
